Christmas is a Comin'...

Well, it's hard to believe it's already December and Christmas is in two weeks! We've settled back into our normal routine for the most part after having family here over Thanksgiving. I'm working with Kendall to move up her bedtime a little bit every night so she'll eventually be going to bed at a normal baby time instead of staying up late with me.

I admit, I'd been keeping her up late for selfish reasons...since I'm home alone every night while Isaiah is at work, it was more fun to have her awake! But now that she's almost six months, I figure I'd better get her in a better routine. She's doing really well with it. Last night I put her down at 8:30 and she didn't wake me up for her early morning nip until 5 a.m., but then she went right back down until 9:30 or so. What a great little sleeper!

It's officially pheasant season in the Panhandle, and Isaiah went for opening weekend last Saturday with his friend Tyler and a bunch of other guys. He came home with a big, really pretty pheasant and declared he wanted to get it stuffed. But it'll have to wait until after the holidays, so he dumped the poor thing in a leg of my pantyhose, wrapped it up in a garbage bag and put it in the freezer. I think I'll be okay with it when it's been taxidermized (is that a word?), but I made him take it out of the room where I was b/c while he was holding it and showing it to me, it's head was lolling all over and creeping me out!

The other big news is that Kendall has officially been taken off her apnea monitor! We've had that thing ever since she was sent home from the NICU at a month old. Her doctor said she hadn't had any apnea or serious heart slowage in two months, so he was comfortable ditching the thing. Yay! I admit it was a huge comfort in those early weeks and months when she would stop breathing, but now that she doesn't need it, I sure won't miss those middle of the night alarms!

Just for posterity's sake, here's Kendall all hooked up with her wires and the box the day before they came to get it:

Due to his excessive barking when Kendall first came home from the hospital, Murphy was banished to San Marcos for about two months to live with my parents. He came back at Thanksgiving and as you can see, has made himself entirely at home again. Isaiah was talking to Kendall one morning this week and before we knew it, Murphy had crawled up on his back like a little monkey.

God has blessed us with the smiliest, happiest girl! She only cries when she's hungry or tired, but really has a great little disposition and is laid back like her daddy. She enjoys being entertained, but is just as happy to sit in her highchair and watch me cook and do dishes as well, as long as I talk to her. And she always busts into a huge grin whenever anyone peeks over the side of her crib after a nap.

Here she is just after waking up:

My sweet friend Julie sent Kendall this adorable outfit last month. It's pink fleece pants and a hoodie with a little onesie that says "I'm Mommy's wish come true!" I loved this picture -- her face says she's not so sure! :)

And last but not least, it's been interesting to hear people say how Kendall looks like Isaiah or me. It seems the opinions are usually split down the middle, but I think this picture from two days ago really makes her look like her daddy. He was a little towhead too and I think she really favors him, especially now that her hair is coming back in this blonde fuzzy, baby duck downy stuff.

In upcoming news, we're hosting a holiday dinner for our neighbors at our house this weekend. Then Isaiah's sister Amber and her family are coming to visit us next weekend, and then my folks will be here again over Christmas. We're looking forward to seeing everybody and spending the holidays with family and friends!
