Howdy all! Dad says I'm a slacker about posting, but I just haven't felt much like writing lately. Life continues as usual! Isaiah's been getting home earlier from work, which has been nice....ha, never thought I'd consider 2:30 a.m. as early, but it's better than 4:30!
I'm just plugging away at work as usual. We're already working on the May/June issue of the magazine, which is hard b/c I'm writing about all this summery stuff and it's below freezing outside! It's been sort of nice though because we have three interns from Tech that have taken some of my stories for the issue, so I have less to do....but I have less to do. This week has actually been pretty boring because I haven't had enough to work on. That's not usually been a problem, but I have some things I just can't get to yet because of timing issues.
One neat thing...we asked folks to nominate deserving moms from all over town for a Mother's Day makeover and we're going to highlight three moms in the May/June issue. I received more than 100 nominations and there were some really good ones! It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside that there are so many great ladies in town. It was nearly impossible to choose, so I narrowed the nominations down to my top 10, and then had my editor and a co-worker help me select the final three. One is a mother of four whose husband is serving in the Army and is deployed to Afghanistan; another is a working mother of three little boys whose husband was supposed to finish his Ph.D. in May but was badly burned in a lab accident in January; and the last is a wife and mother whose husband suffered a massive heart attack last year and then her 13-year old son has cancer, and she's devoted herself to their care.
I'm excited to meet these ladies and spend the day with them. Dillard's is helping us by outfitting the women in outfits, accessories and shoes, then we'll spend the afternoon at a local salon that is donating haircuts, hair color, makeup application, massages and manicures. Then in the evening we're doing a photo shoot and allowing the families to come see their "made over" moms. I hope it's a great experience for the women...and that the story turns out well!
So I'm glad it's almost the weekend. Isaiah and I never have been big Valentine's Day people so we really don't have any plans, but we did get tickets to see the Aggie men play Tech on Saturday afternoon. Let's hope we win and nobody hazes us too bad!
Ugh, it snowed again today. I'm so sick of the snow! I mostly enjoyed it when I lived in Colorado, but here the roads are so bad, people don't know how to drive and the town gets flooded when it all melts. Plus, our backyard turns into a huge mud pit and the dogs track muddy paws all over the carpet. Argh!
Well, that should be enough to satisfy ole' Pops. More news to come soon, but I don't want to jinx anything! :)
ok. you have a comment now. so blog something new!! about maybe, um, the child growing inside you!!!
