Growing Up Fast!

Our little gal is growing up fast! She's less than a week away from turning 9 months and is officially wearing 3-6 month clothes...just this week! Yep, still tiny for her age, but doing great otherwise.

She's a great little eater but I realized last week I'd never let her hold the spoon before! I had to watch her closely because she gagged on it a few times, but she liked holding it and chewing on it. She's also figured out her sippy cup and can drink from it herself if it's full and she doesn't have to tip it up very far. Yay for progress, even in the little things!

Nana was here until the 1st, and we were so bad about taking any pictures of Kendall and her together! We did take a few though the day she left. We had a good visit and Kendall was sad to see her go. Here they are together:

One thing's for sure...this girl loves her Daddy. Now that Isaiah works days, it's so nice to have him home in the evening so he can play with Kendall. They like to snuggle in the big chair together and just hang out. (As you can see, her hair in the front is finally getting long enough that it's starting to lay down a bit, but still sticks up in the back!)

I worked several hours in the yard earlier this week, raking about a billion leaves from all the flower beds in the backyard. I inherited some gorgeous daffodils, tulips, irises and lilies from the previous owners of our house, and I really want to do all I can to keep them going! Kendall hung out in her bouncer in the shade while I worked and was such a good girl...she just watched me and the dogs, played with her feet and sucked on her socks! Then when Daddy got home, she rode on my back in her carrier so I could hold the garbage bags while Isaiah filled them up with the leaves.

I'm happy to say the first shoots of my flowers are popping up nicely and I have three daffodils already blooming. Yay for spring!

In other news, Kendall and I are leaving for a week-long road trip to Dallas tomorrow. We're going to visit my Aunt Joyce, go to my cousin April and family's missionary commissioning ceremony and spending the weekend with our friends Brooke and Heath. I'm excited for Kendall to meet a bunch of new people and for us to have a bit of a change of pace for a little while. We girls need to get out of this house!

But don't worry about Isaiah...I did all his laundry today, he has chicken/sausage gumbo and white chicken chili in the fridge, as well as shepherd's pie, chicken spaghetti and lasagna in the freezer, so he's going to be fine! :)

He'll have plenty to do while we're gone. He started demolition on our hall bathroom this weekend, and took down all the pink hydrangea wallpaper, removed a large mirror, smashed out all the pink tile from the walls, removed the sliding glass shower doors and ripped out all the carpet. Next he will be taking out the office-like linoleum from underneath the carpet and sanding down all the tile putty and wallpaper mess. No rest for the weary!
