What a difference a year makes…

This post is about carseats. I know, boring right? Just stay with me for a sec….

We had the great fortune of getting a second-hand infant carseat and matching stroller for only $40 from one of my sister-in-law’s fellow church members before Kendall was born. And, it was orange and brown so it didn’t matter whether we had a boy or girl. Really, can you beat a deal like that?!?! We got plenty of good use out of the seat, and Kendall has taken many a walk in her stroller.

All good things must come to an end though, and as we approached Kendall’s first birthday, we started thinking about upgrading her to a convertible carseat. Thanks to her Nana and Grandpa, she scored a new cowmooflage-print Britax seat for her birthday. Yay!

So, what to do with our infant seat? A single mom Isaiah works with had a little boy a few months ago and he told her she could have our stroller (and the carseat too since it fits into the stroller) after Kendall turned one. She called this week to see if she could come get it, and we figured it was time. As we were getting it all ready for her to come pick up, I told Isaiah to put Kendall in it one last time so I could snap a pic.

I just can’t help but think about the milestones our little girl is reaching and how far she’s come from the lil’ four-pounder we met last June. She was just over five pounds and still on her apnea monitor when we brought her home from the hospital, and at her 12-month checkup, she was just two ounces shy of 18 pounds and given a clean bill of health!

Anyway, I had to post these two pictures – one from the day she came home from the hospital at one month and one from this week at 13 months. They make me a little teary just looking at how our girl has grown. She’s gone from rattling around in that seat like a little seed in a big pod, needing thick, rolled blankets just to hold her in….to overflowing! :) What a difference a year makes!!
