Zeek’s Visit to Texas

When we came back from our trip to Washington a few weeks ago, we brought our eight-year old nephew Zeek home to spend about 10 days or so with us. He loves Kendall and me, but his absolute FAVE person is his Uncle Ike! I told Isaiah I felt bad that all day long when Isaiah was at work, I was just trying to keep Zeek occupied until the fun really started!

One of their favorite things to do was have water balloon fights. I had the excuse of holding the camera and Kendall, so I managed to stay out of the fray…for the most part. Here’s a few pics of the boys trying to soak each other. In the first one, you can see Zeek’s balloon taking flight and in the second, you can see the water spray where Isaiah’s just nailed Zeek in the back!

Kendall was smart enough to watch from the sidelines. We gave her a small water balloon to play with. She chewed and chewed on that thing and I was sure it was going to pop in her mouth…but it never did! Finally she accidentally dropped it and it broke in the grass.

Our neighbors Louis and Sylvia took us to a huge local Catholic fundraiser/carnival type thing on Zeek’s first weekend here. He got his face painted like a zombie (boys are so predictable…ha!) and we enjoyed LOTS of fabulous, authentic Mexican food. We joked around that maybe we should become Catholic…when we’ve visited Protestant churches here in Plainview, we never see anyone we know. At this Catholic event, Isaiah saw someone he knew from work about every three minutes!

Later in the week, I took the kids up to Amarillo to spend the day with Aunt Kathie, Jill and the kids. We had lunch and then went to Mike’s sister Jerri’s house to swim. She was so sweet to let us take over her backyard all afternoon!

Kendall did GREAT and didn’t take a nap all day long until we got in the car on the way home at around 5. She hung out in the pool and just had a grand ole’ time! Here she is with her great aunt Kathie Lou!

Okay, Jill will probably kill me for posting a pic of her and Judah in the pool b/c that’s how girls just are. HOWEVER, I can do so without fear of retribution b/c Jill NEVER updates her blog….(hint, hint)….so THERE! :)

Three wild and rambunctious kiddos…I mean really, do they EVER get tired?!?!

The next day, we headed over to Aunt Susie and Uncle Eddie’s house for another day in the pool…no floaties required! Yay! Here’s Zeek with Kendall (who would not look up for the pic), Erin, Cayden, Susie and Avery. (Susie was also not thrilled with me taking pics of her with wet hair, but I promised not to post any on the very public Facebook….I figure this blog is only semi-public…just friends and family!)

The kids all had a popsicle for their afternoon snack…Kendall included! It was her very first popsicle and she loved it! Erin was sweet enough to hold K and let her get it all over her!

Seriously, this girl can make some faces! Having a late-afternoon snack of Cheezits and showing off her three teeth!

A wise man once said that every boy needs a dog. Well, to be honest, I’m not sure how wise the man was, or if it was really ever said, but it is true! Zeek has a cat at home but he is obsessed with Tug and loved hanging out with him. Here are the guys lounging in the living room:

The second weekend Zeek was here, we left Kendall with Eddie & Susie on Friday night (a big thanks to them!) so we could take him to see Texas at Palo Duro Canyon! Isaiah and I love hiking there and driving through the park, but he’d never seen the show and I hadn’t seen it since I was probably eight or nine, so we were looking forward to it! I think Zeek really enjoyed it, especially the gunfight, lightning, and all the loud bangs and booms. I was sad they couldn’t do fireworks b/c of the burn ban, but ah well….

Then on Saturday night, we met up with Aunt Terri & Uncle Doug in Amarillo for dinner and a Sox game. It was a really nice evening and Zeek even made out with a Sox hat (thanks, Uncle Doug!)! And to top it all off, the Sox pulled off the win right at the end of the game. Woo hoo!

Kendall is getting to be such a squirmy worm, so we all took turns passing her up and down the row to be held and entertained. Uncle Doug does great with her and kept her happy for a long time!

Alas…all good things must come to an end. Zeek flew out early on Monday the 25th to spend some time with Isaiah’s sister’s family, so we took some pictures the night before he left. Of course I’d already stripped Kendall down to her diaper for a bath, so the poor kid is half naked… And, since Zeek was still in his swimming suit from another water balloon fight with Uncle Ike, it just felt normal… :)

(In Isaiah’s family, the cousins all refer to each other as “scuzzins,” so here we have a new generation of Morgan scuzzins! Ha!)

Me with the kiddos….and yes, you can all be very glad I decided not to pose in my underwear! Hee hee!

We miss the little dude and Isaiah’s already talking about what fun they will have NEXT summer. Eeesh…better rest up before then!

In other news, Kendall and I will be flying into Austin tomorrow for a 10-day visit with the fam. We’ll head to Houston on Friday with Mom & Dad to spend the weekend with Clay’s family and celebrate Miss Camryn’s 4th birthday and then hang out in San Marcos the rest of the time. I’m looking forward to it, and just hope Kendall behaves on the flight and doesn’t act like a total monkey like she did on our flights to and from Washington. I hope whoever sits next to us doesn’t mind a kid trying to crawl all over them…wish me luck!
