Clay & Co. came in on Wednesday night and we had dinner and got the girls all settled in. We have a twin bed with trundle in the third bedroom so we thought it would be perfect for Loren and Camryn. Let's just say after about 10 minutes of Camryn screaming and Loren being frustrated, Clay and Maryann decided to each "take a kid" and sleep in separate rooms. Poor Mommy and Daddy.
Thursday afternoon my parents got to town and we took the girls to the park at the end of our street before having a non-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving dinner of pork tenderloin, mashers, roasted acorn squash (with maple syrup and brown sugar) and a pumpkin-choco chip cake. Since we knew we'd be having turkey and ham at my Aunt Susie's on Saturday, we decided to do something different. Anyway, it was good and we all were stuffed.

Morgan family photo (minus Murphs): On Friday, Maryann and I met one of her college friends, Stephanie, for lunch. Stephanie and her hubby live here and she and I have gone to lunch a few times in the past couple of months as well. It was good to see her and for she and M to reconnect. Then after the girls' naps, we went over to Erin's house to let the kids play together. Erin's son Cayden is only 10 days younger than Loren and her daughter Avery is three months younger then Camryn. The little girls weren't really sure what to make of each other...Camryn was too busy rocketing down the slide as fast as she could go to play much with Avery, but Loren and Cayden had fun chasing each other around the yard and getting into general trouble. Then we went with Erin's family and Andi to have gooey cheeseburgers and fries at Buns Over Texas. Mmmm... Poor Loren....there isn't much a gluten-free gal can eat there, so she was stuck with a bunless hotdog (cheapskates only give them half a weenie!) and then Mom-packed snacks. She filled up though, but I can't help but feel like the girl is missing out when we're all munching on cheese-fries and onion rings.... :(
Saturday we all got up early to make green bean casserole, enough mashed potatoes to feed a small town and two pumpkin pies. Once they were done, we got on the road to Plainview to spend our late Thanksgiving with my Uncle Eddie, Aunt Susie, Erin's family, Andi, Uncle Mike, Aunt Kathie, and cousin Matt and his family. It wasn't nearly as much chaos as usual with a good chunk of our family out of town, but we still had six kiddos running around playing, getting into trouble and bickering as only cousins can do! It was a fun day with way too much delicious food (we counted like 10 desserts for 21 people!), game playing and watching football. Yay!

Camryn and Avery coloring Thanksgiving pictures:
Sunday was the sad day when everybody had to go home, so we got up early to have breakfast together before they all headed out. Isaiah and I went to church despite our nagging desire for a mid-moring nap because Damon was preaching. And, much to my delight, attendance was a bit down b/c of the holidays, so I was finally able to talk Isaiah into joining the church, since we've only been going there for around six months now. His whole hold-up was having to stand up there in front of everybody. What a weenie! ;)
Camryn all dolled up and ready to go, complete with purse and friends:
I've washed all the sheets and towels and made all the beds again with Isaiah's help, but am still trying to wade through two weeks worth of dirty laundry (at least six loads) that I got behind on. And, wouldn't you know it...when I got up this morning, our furnace was out again (sigh...), which was just perfect b/c I walked to the window and saw this!
That's right, our first snow of the year on December 1! Tuggy had already gone potty a few hours ago when Isaiah got up to get ready for work (he's doing some special project so he'll be working days again this week...yay!), but poor Murphs had to get out there in the wet, cold stuff. He did not know what to think and of course spun and spun and spun around like a dummy trying to find the perfect place to pee, all the while getting snowed on. Now we're all snuggled up in the living room, waiting for the re-lit furnace to warm us up before I have to start getting ready to go to work this afternoon. Wish I could call in sick today and stay home all cuddled up with my boys!
Tuggy giving me lovey eyes:
Upcoming...we have Isaiah's company Christmas party this Saturday night at the P.V. Country Club (swanky! ;) and I have to come up with something "semi-formal" to wear....argh....
pictures with the fam and the awesome snow make me sooooo wish we were there with you all! :)
ReplyDeleteYou will be here at Christmas...just a few more weeks! YAY! And maybe we can talk Aunt Terri into making us mint brownies so you can chow down on them with me this time! :)
