Here are a few cute pics from home before I get to the big road trip.
The stuffed animals in front of Kendall's crib...which one of these things is not like the others?!? :)
Kendall thinking, "I get the feeling there's something lurking behind me!"
Is that a little smile?
One of my favorite pictures of her...she just looks so peaceful!
For a girl who isn't mobile, how does she turn herself sideways in the bassinette?
Tuggy...up to his normal shenanigans!
Okay so here I'll get into the road trip. We wanted to visit my folks and see Clay and his family over Labor Day, but since Kendall isn't supposed to be in public places, flying was definitely out. Isaiah took off the Friday before Labor Day and the Tuesday after so we'd have a five-day weekend. Since Kendall sleeps pretty well at night and sometimes stretches her feedings to every 4-5 hours, we figured it'd be smart to drive at night.
Isaiah got home at 9:30 on Thursday night, I fed Kendall, we loaded up the car and were off! We left Plainview at 10 p.m. and only got as far as Slaton before the storms hit. It literally rained from Slaton until we got home to San Marcos...at 7:15 in the morning! The good news, aside from us having to drive so slow and carefully in the rain at night, was that Kendall only woke up to eat twice and went right back to sleep so our stops weren't too long and she didn't cry at all! What a blessing!
It was a fun-filled weekend visiting with family and friends. After sleeping all morning after we got to Mom and Dad's, Isaiah decided he wanted to tackle the project of texturing, primering and painting the walls in the half and master bathrooms at my parents' house! So he and Dad went to buy all the materials and got started. Clay and his gals came in that evening and met little Miss Kendall!
Saturday some of us made a jaunt to Clear Springs for catfish, shrimp and onion rings...mmmm and then my great friend from home, Brooke, came over to meet Kendall. They had fun together and then Brooke and I went out to dinner and caught up with each other.
Here's Brooke and Kendall!
It was fun to see Loren and Camryn with their little cousin. The first time Camryn saw Kendall she was wearing a white printed sleeper and Camryn said, "I want her to wear pink!" So we put her in an outfit with pink cherries on it the next day!
Here's Loren with Kendall -- doesn't it look like she's holding a baby doll?
Kendall with her Aunt Maryann and cousins!

Loren with Kendall, who is looking at her Uncle Clay like, "Ehm, do I know you?"
On Monday, I got to visit with another great friend from San Marcos, Lisa. She is baby obsessed and wanted to hold Kendall every second she was there! I managed to pry her away so we could go chat and have lunch, but as you can see, Kendall felt right at home with her.
Three of my mom's friends came over to visit and meet Kendall as well over the course of the weekend, which was so sweet, and we also had dinner one night with Clay's and my cousin Leslie and her hubby David, who live in Austin. It was a fun-filled, productive weekend. Isaiah and Dad finished the two bathrooms and got started on the third before we left on Tuesday at 8 p.m. to make the night-time drive home. Kendall did great again and it rained some, but not as much on the way home, and we shaved 30 minutes off our time, arriving in Plainview at 5 am! What a fun trip!
Here we are back at home where we belong:
On Thursday after we got home, Kendall had to go back to the doctor to get the second part of her HepB shot and I was curious to find out what she weighed since it'd been three weeks since her last visit. She gained almost a whole pound! She went from 6 lb, 9.5 oz to 7 lb, 8.5 oz! She also did very well again with her shot and only cried for a bit. Poor kiddo has to go back for her four month shots in mid-October, but then she'll get a two-month break, thankfully.
Here she is, worn out from the doctor's visit:
Little circus band-aid on her little leg!
All in all, we had a great trip, despite spending 18 hours on the road in five days. Sheesh! It was so good to see everybody though, and we made it all in one piece and with our sanity still intact!
her sleeping pics remind me oddly of her daddy passed out on the couch while we watch tv :)
