Fall is Here!

Well folks, I got a nasty text message (joking?!?) from a friend today saying it was ridiculous how long it has been since I updated the blog. I really don't have an excuse...other than that my time is no longer my own...most of the time.

Kendall will be 16 weeks old tomorrow. It's hard to believe! Our little girl is getting so big and although we don't know her exact weight, she's in the 8-lb. range now, making her twice as big as when she was born!

I hate to say I don't have any earth-shattering news to report, but when you're a stay-at-home mom, the "big events" are a long nap, a poopy-free clothes day (yay!) and first smiles. Yep, big things, but in a small way.

I figure the best way to keep everybody posted on what's going on with us is with pictures, so I'll post them below and give a running dialogue. Here goes!

A few weeks ago, my sweetest, dearest friend Allison was visiting her folks in Amarillo and came down to see us that Saturday. She decided not to bring her 6-month old, Owen, so he could rest with his Grandma and we could enjoy some time together with just one potential screaming baby. She got to hold and feed Kendall...PLUS, help me clean her up after her worst blow-out to date (sorry Allison!). It was great to see her and I'm so glad she got to meet Miss K.

Feeding time:

Three lovely gals:

Later that afternoon after Allison headed back to Amarillo, we decided to take Tuggy and Kendall to the big park in Hale Center so Tuggy could burn off some steam and swim. (If I didn't mention earlier, Murphy is staying with my folks for a while b/c he was driving us all nuts with all the barking...and waking up the baby!)

Here's Kendall relaxing in her stroller (first time in it!) and Tuggy doing what he does best:

Kendall still sleeps a LOT, some days more than others, but is also getting more alert. Here she is zoned in on something or another.

Since I'm a stay-at-home mommy and have no use for knowing what day of the week it is most of the time, I thought it was Kendall's three-month birthday so I set her up on the couch and took her picture. Isn't she cute? Then I realized I was a day early....

Later that day, we spent some time out in the backyard on a blanket. Isaiah and I were almost eaten by mosquitoes before wisely spraying ourselves, and we watched Kendall like hawks so she wouldn't get bitten. Here's our little sleeping beauty. I think she's dreaming of flying away with Peter Pan...

People keep saying how auburn Kendall's hair looks. Well we both look like auburn headed gals in this pic!

This Daddy sure does love his little squirt!

Okay, three months old for real this time!

Just when we were finishing up, Kendall decided to sneeze, which caused her to fall over. I know, I'm a mean Mommy for taking the picture before helping her up. It was too cute though!

After her therapy session with the occupational therapist from Early Childhood Intervention (govt. program for preemies and the like), Kendall was all tuckered out so I just left her on the blankie she'd been "working" on. Tuggy keeps watch....

One of my favorite faces she makes is this hilariously over-exaggerated sad face when she's pouting and about to cry. I never can snap up the camera fast enough to get the real, full-blown thing, but here's a pretty good one:

Aaaaand, she's throwing a fit! :)

My sweet Mom flew up to Lubbock the week before last so she could drive home to San Marcos with Kendall and me. Isaiah wanted to get more work done on the house, but since he needed to sand, texture, primer and paint, we decided Kendall shouldn't be around the dust and fumes. The great thing about being unemployed is that we could just split town whenever we wanted!

Here's Kendall at my folks' house with her Grandpa:

That girl slept all over the house! Here she is taking a supervised cat-nap on her tummy in Clay/Loren's room, which also serves as the computer room. Mom and I were just chatting and I looked down and she had dozed off....

One thing this girl is consistent about is being inconsistent. She doesn't smile a lot yet, but one day Mom was able to get her to smile a bunch by cooing at her and tickling her cheek. Isn't it great?!?! (I know...it's a small thing, but big to a mommy!)

I don't even think this picture looks much like she usually looks, but this face was too hilarious not to include:

Smiling on the bed with her bunny-footed jammies on!

"Monkeys go like this!"

Her first time sitting in a high-chair, but not to eat, just to hang out with Nana. Doesn't she look like a big girl?

I called this blog entry "Fall is Here" because it's officially here to me when we've used our heater! We used it two nights this week! (But of course I have the A/C running right now during the day!) We took Kendall and Tuggy for their first walk around the neighborhood yesterday and here she is after her Daddy bundled her up in a hat and blankie....which she didn't really need b/c it was warmer out than we thought. Oh well, at least he's being cautious!

Waking up on the wrong side of the swing from a nap. So sad! :(

I snapped this picture just this morning. Isaiah is still working nights so he sleeps as late as I'll let him most days, but this morning we got up earlier than usual. But of course these two sleepyheads couldn't resist catching a quick nap together:

Well, we don't have any big plans for the rest of this month. Our friends Ally and Sam are getting married in College Station in November, so we plan to head down to the wedding. The tentative plan for now is for Mom to come stay with Kendall here at our house and then spend the rest of the time here before Thanksgiving when all the family comes. The wedding is slated for November 13, which also happens to be our sixth anniversary! It's a good day to get married! :)

Happy fall to you all...and here's to better luck for my Aggies this weekend and the rest of the season!
