Catching up…

Well, it’s been a busy two months since I posted anything. But I’m back! I guess the biggest news is my new job as sports editor at the Plainview Herald. I’ve only been there a few weeks, but have enjoyed it. I’ve always said getting paid to attend sporting events is kind of the perfect job! (Keep up with me at: http://myplainview.com/sports/)

We’ve been blessed to find a gal through our church who is a stay-at-home mom to keep Kendall while we’re at work. Since my days off are Sunday and Monday, and I go in after lunch on Tuesdays and Fridays b/c those are my late nights with games, she’s only at the babysitter’s house two full days and two half days per week. She seems to like Miss Victoria very well and is learning good lessons (like sharing!) being around the other kids.

Okay, so I’d rather post pictures than write a bunch, so here goes!

Nothing earth-shattering about this pic, but I can hardly ever sneak in K’s room without her waking up, but she was passed out this morning and I was able to snap a picture of her. There’s seriously nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby!

Playing in the backyard on a mild February day…

Who’d have thunk a 115-lb dog and a 1-year old would be best friends?!?! Well, these two are! Tug is so sweet and gentle with Kendall, and she absolutely adores him. Her newest thing is to sit in his lap, sometimes even looking at books with him!

Just being goofy, sitting in her toy basket!

Since we missed the white Christmas this year when we were out of town, Kendall experienced her first real snow this February. She loved it until she fell over and whitewashed herself…poor baby had snow in her hair, eyelashes, eyebrows and all over her hands! Needless to say we didn’t stay out long after that b/c I think she was freezing!

Since I work Saturdays now, Kendall and Isaiah get to spend the whole day hanging out together, which I think is great! She loves puttering around the house and yard with him. This was my first Saturday to work and what do I come home to? A little girl whose shoes and pants were covered in mud! Ah well, nothing a little Shout couldn’t take care of….

During my first week at work, the Olton boys’ basketball team qualified for the state tournament in Austin. Since I already had plane tickets to spend Spring Break week in San Marcos (bought before I was offered the job), my boss agreed to pay the change fee and send Kendall and I down a few days early so I could cover the games. Since we got to go early, we were able to spend 12 days with Nana and Poppy, which Kendall loved!

Here she is playing with the hose and toys out on the deck…

During the middle of the week, I hopped over to College Station to visit friends while Mom & Dad so sweetly kept K for me. I was lucky enough to be there the day after my friend Megan delivered her second little girl, Miss Tenley Wren! Allison (left), Megan and I were in a weekly bible study group with our other friend Libby (who lives in PA now) when we lived in BCS and I miss them a lot so it was good to see 2-of-3!

Me, Allison and her little boy Owen(well, not so little…he turned two the day after this pic and weighs 35 lbs!). He’s so hilarious and fun!

Clay, Maryann, Loren & Camryn spent several days at a Hyatt timeshare in San Antonio and Kendall and I got to hang out with them one day, swimming and having tons of fun! Then that weekend, they came to Mom & Dad’s so we could all hang out.

Here are our silly girls in the tub together! :)

P1030480

Loren was pouring water on Kendall’s hair and Camryn, whose aim isn’t as good, managed to douse Kendall in the face a couple of times with a full cup of water! Kendall thought it was funny and just laughed it off!

P1030499

Loren is so good about always entertaining Kendall and watching out for her. While Cammy tried to eat the tub toys, Kendall and Loren were “bucket-heads!”

Some kids seem more comfortable with/drawn to people of one sex, either men or women. Kendall is definitely a man’s girl…she’s obsessed with her Daddy and Poppy, loves our next door neighbor Louis and really took to Clay this visit. She climbed up on the couch and just sat watching basketball with him! Awww, Unkie Clay! :)

P1030516

I don’t usually give Kendall juice b/c I feel like she gets enough sugar during the day anyway and she loves a good ole’ cup of ice water or milk. Of course Nana has to spoil her though, and she sucked this apple juice box down like it was liquid gold! This girl does NOT mess around when it comes to sweet stuff!

Getting kisses from her Poppy!

These two are best friends!

We attempted to take pictures of Kendall in the bluebonnets in Mom & Dad’s front yard, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a one-year old to sit still! I was trying to snap pics while Dad tried to wrangle her. Here she is grinning at him, just out of the shot…

Trying to escape!

Lil’ cutie patootie!

I miss seeing these now that we live up in the Panhandle!

My favorite recent pic of Miss Tootie!

Kisses from Nana!

Well, life is a LOT busier now that Isaiah and I are both working full time, but we’re finding ways to make it work. I’m sure I’ll slack on the blog, but will try to update it when I have time!
