July 4th Festivities!

We had a great July 4th yesterday in Plainview with family and enough food to feed an army. We had lunch at my aunt and uncle's house and spent the rest of the afternoon just hanging out, playing with my cousin's kids and grazing. Then we had dinner...which I'm not sure why because I think we were all still full from lunch....but it was delicious! You just can't beat a spread of ribs, brisket, sausage, stuffed jalapenos, potato salad, beans and homemade ice cream. And the mint brownies?!?! They were heaven! Ugh, I shouldn't eat anything for a week or two to make up for it. We even put in some Guitar Hero time!

After dinner, Isaiah and I stopped by his boss' house for a bit and then headed back to shoot off fireworks. Isaiah is like a kid when it comes to fireworks -- he'd spend a month's paycheck on them if I'd let him. Anyway, what was so funny was that of all the fireworks, Erin's son Cayden (4), liked the little bumble bees the best. We tried to get him excited in the big ones, but alas....

Then as if the fireworks weren't enough entertainment, a frog jumped right up to all of us sitting on the curb. We were under a street light and there were junebugs everywhere so it was like a buffet to him. Poor Isaiah and Damon were putting themselves in mortal danger to entertain us, and we were more interested in kicking junebugs to the frog so he could slurp them up with his ridiculously long tongue.

Cayden is destined to be Dr. Doolittle -- the kid LOVES animals, and Erin had to come up with a great answer as to why he couldn't keep the frog. I even tried to tell him that it would pee all over him, but he didn't care. Even when we were back at the house watching the Plainview fireworks extravaganza, Cayden could hardly pay attention because he was so worried about the frog!

Here's the gang watching fireworks:

Damon was especially excited!

Fireworks!

Anyway, the fireworks were good and we had a great day with the fam. As promised, here's a picture of our three little furry friends (from left to right: Murphy, Kirby and Cricket) watching T.V. with Isaiah. Poor Kirby can't even see because his bangs are so long, but we're getting his hair cut tomorrow, so never you fear.

And finally, Murphy was mad Isaiah wouldn't let him hold the remote, and I caught him making his meanest face... ;)
