Mid-Trip Report

Howdy there! So I've been on the road for a week now and have been all over Texas and to the East Coast and back! Whew! And on top of that, I won't be going home until Sunday or Monday. Every time I talk to Isaiah he makes sure to tell me how bored he is. Poor guy...well, maybe this will help him appreciate me more! :)

So I have to start out by saying the trip to Boston was FANTASTIC. (Thanks, Brookie, for taking me with you!) Our hotel was great, we saw all kinds of neat architectural and historical things, had some amazing food and took in a perfect day at the ballpark! I mean really, it was a great trip. More details and photos to come....

Then earlier this week I spent a few days in Godley, Texas, at my Aunt Joyce's house, which is always fun. She lives in this big place out in the country and it's very peaceful and relaxing. Mom came up too and we buzzed around the area looking at places for a family reunion with her side next summer. I also got to spend some time with my cousin David and his wife Claire's three boys, Jack (3) and the baby twins, Henry and Thomas. Henry is starting to take a handful of steps and Thomas crawl-cruises like a pro. They were so much fun and that silly Jack is a riot. He kept talking about the "triangle of destiny" from Sesame Street and asked me if I could stay the night at his house that night. Too cute! I think if I was around him more, Jack and I could get into a lot of trouble together!

Today I drove to College Station and had lunch with my dear friend and former co-worker, Brenda. We went to Wings 'n More like old times and caught up as much as we could. She promised to make the trip to Lubbock in a few months, so I'm going to hold her to it. I also stopped by my friend Megan's house this afternoon to keep her company. See, Meggie's baby girl was due today, but not much progress is being made, so she's basically sitting and waiting...and waiting...and waiting. I'm hoping baby Stewart will show up before I go home on Sunday or Monday so I can meet her!

Speaking of babies, two sweet little boys were born into the world this week -- on Monday: Grant Claberon, the son of my friends Seth and Melissa and on Wednesday: Salem Luke, the son of my cousin April and her hubby Brandon. Welcome to the world, little fellas!

My friend Rachel was sweet enough to let me stay at her house on and off this weekend while she's in San Antonio with her family. We had a yummy sushi dinner together before she headed out of town with her bassett hound, Charlie, who happens to have an affinity for wiping his food-crusted mouth on my jeans. Yum....

Tomorrow I'm headed to Houston to spend a day and a half with Clay, Maryann and the girls. I can't wait!
