Brenda and Bill had scored us a free weekend at the Aransas Princess because some of their friends own a 2-bedroom condo there. Yay! We had a great place to stay and a fantastic view.
Friday was spent at the pool and beach, followed by dinner at Port A Brewing Company, which was recently listed in Texas Monthly's top 50 burgers in the state. We all got them and they were pretty darn tasty, I must say!
After dinner we headed to the Back Porch Bar to see Darryl Lee Rush play -- Darryl is Brenda's little brother and a fantastic musician. BPB is such a fun venue and it's my third year in a row to see the band play there, which is always so fun! A highlight of the evening was Darryl's impromptu birthday song for Blake (Brooke's lil' brother) who turned 27 that day.

On Saturday, we slept late, had breakfast and went down to camp out on the beach all day. Thank goodness for our big tent and umbrellas because we were out there from noon to after 7 in the evening. It was such a gorgeous day, the water was so nice and we had such a great time spending time with our friends. We just ate, drank, swam, relaxed and the boys played washers (as usual). That night we were all so exhausted we ordered pizza and hit the hay before 11!

Despite forecasted rain for Saturday, it was a gorgeous day!
Then on Sunday, Isaiah and I took a long walk down the beach together....we did NOT want to leave!

After a few hours at the pool, we went to lunch with Brooke, Bren and Bill (Heath had to head to the airport earlier...boo!) at Trout Street. It was yummy and then Isaiah and I hit the road to head back to Corpus. And of course, because air travel these days is a freaking nightmare, we were delayed several times and finally had to be put on another airline so we could get home that night. UGH!
I hate flying anymore...nothing ever works out the way it's supposed to and they charge you a billion dollars just to get hassled around all day. All we could think was....we could have spent a few more hours at the beach and we're stuck sitting here in the airport! We finally got home around 11, leaving Isaiah a whopping four hours to sleep before he had to get up for work.
Yesterday morning I picked up our boys from the place we'd boarded them over the weekend. Both of them seemed fine and happy to see me, and Tuggy was no worse for wear. I can't say the same for poor Murphy.....being one of the smallest "on the playground," it seems some of the bigger dogs either used him as a tee-tee post or he just walked through someone's stream. Needless to say he was yucky and stinky and I gave him a bath immediately when we got home.
We're back to our normal routine now and are having Erin's family over for dinner tonight. I just finished making the homemade marinara sauce and will make meatballs later this afternoon for our Italian feast.
Thanks again, Damron family, for such a great weekend. We love you guys!
